Every other Wednesday, the Metro Atlanta Beauty Bloggers will answer a beauty-related question just for fun! This week's question is...
Can you create a FOTD for $20.00 or less? Show us what products you would use!
NOTE: For this, we are not figuring sales tax, brushes, tools, or implements, just the regular cost of the actual make-up products.

I waited until the last minute to put this look together, but it came out a lot better than I thought it would. First I looked up the weekly sales for cosmetics and decided to go shopping at Rite Aid. I was in there for about 30 minutes with my calculator, trying to find the best combination for under $20. I ended up buying six products all together that came to $19.34 before tax. The Maybelline products were "buy one, get one 50% off", so I decided on the "FIT Me! Foundation" in the shade 120 and "Superstay 24 Correcteur" in the shade "Cream Créme" as my 50% off product. I then decided on a trio eyeshadow palette from Wet n Wild in the shade "Sweet as Candy", an eyeliner duo from NYC in the shade "A Place in the Sun" and a mascara from NYC called "City Curls". The last product I purchased was a lipstick in the shade "Think Pink" from Wet n Wild.
Prior to this post, I did not have any experience with these products and I can only express my thoughts and reviews based on the first and only time I have used these products. I was most happy with the dual eyeliner pencil as the colors are super blendable and I was able to use it as multiple applications, such as eyebrow pencil, eyeliner and lip liner. But I did get the feeling that it would bleed super easily as an eyeliner, quickly resulting in raccoon eyes. The eyeshadow trio was my next favorite as the colors were very pretty and again multi-usable. In addition to using them as eyeshadow, I was able to use the brown as an eyebrow powder, the pink as a blush and the cream color as an lower, inner eye highlighter.
The mascara was average though I did not notice any curl action, but it did bring my lashes to life. I'm still unsure of the foundation, as I'm going to have wear it a few more times, before I can make my final conclusion. It did match better than I thought it would and the feel was fairly nice. My least favorite product was the lipstick. I ended up liking it better as a blush as it was a little too bright for my liking on my lips. To tone it down I used the brown eyeliner, which made it a bit darker, but I still did not like the texture and how it separated on my lips. I tried topping it with some vaseline and that helped a tiny bit, but I wouldn't recommend the lipstick, especially if you have chapped lips.
All in all, I really enjoyed doing this post and even thought about doing one routinely. Below is a video a recorded while doing my look. Let me know what you think and if you would like to see more posts and videos like this in the future. I also challenge you to do a FOTD for $20.00 or less. :)

Can't wait to see your full thoughts on the concealer.
ReplyDeleteIs that what kind of concealer you use? I still can't decide what I think about it.
DeleteGorgeous! So far I like the Maybelline Fit Me, but it's not my favorite. You did a fabulous job!
ReplyDeleteThanks girl!! It did better than I thought, but definitely not my favorite either.
