As most of you probably already know, I'm obsessed with my José Eber 19mm (¾") curling iron. Proof: (demo video from January 2012...third video I ever did for my blog and another demo video in May 2012.) I purchased it from a kiosk at the mall several years ago and I swear it works now just as good as it did the day I bought it. I was very skeptical about purchasing it and it took many trips to the mall and many demonstrations to convince me to pull out my credit card. The final convincing demonstration was one rainy day I went to the mall and the lady curled several strands of hair and I walked out in the rain without my rain hoodie or an umbrella and the curls didn't frizz out. The curls were still perfect that evening. I couldn't believe it...never had any styling product kept my hair from being fuzzy in the rain. I went back the next day and purchased it.

At that time I was working with Nicovision Studios on a regular basis so I went and purchased another 19mm to use on models while styling their hair. Though I think mine would have worked perfectly, I'm stingy with my products and I honestly don't like mixing my personal products, whether it be makeup or hair products into my model kit. My reason...I write off everything that goes into my makeup kit. I know for a fact that at least 50% of the models I used the José Eber curling iron on, went out and purchased one for them self. Even the photographer, purchased one for his wife.

My hair is super thick and coarse and it usually doesn't hold any curl, but with the José Eber curling iron my hair will hold the curl until the next time I wash my hair...no joke. I don't use any product, except to calm down the flyaways at the very end of styling my hair. Most days when I curl my hair, I wear the curls tight and don't break them up, so then the next day I can fluff them out to give my hair a softer look. I get more compliments on my hair than anything and I always attribute it to the curling iron and the delicious smell to my LAID Brand hair care products.

Since I started blogging I have been trying to get in touch with José Eber and I finally heard back from them at the beginning of March. I was ecstatic!! They offered to send me a product of my choice to try out and do a review on. Of course I wanted another curling iron. I choose the 32mm (1¼") curling iron, as I thought it would give me completely different curls than the 19mm. This way I could show the difference between the two barrel sizes and give all my readers an accurate portrayal of the final curl results.  The 13mm would be a drastic difference as well, but I know it's very time consuming to use a small of a barrel on my hair, so I figured I would get much more use out of the larger barrel.

After using the 32mm several times, I'm glad I purchased the 19mm first, as it is much easier to use and the curls are more defined. It took me a few tries to achieve perfect curls with the larger barrel. The first few times I tried it out, it just gave me a wave in my hair that didn't last till the end of the day. About the third time I used it, I figured out the "trick"! For the larger barrel I have to pull my hair much tighter around the iron than I do for the smaller barrel. I think it's almost natural for the smaller barrel to roll tighter as there is more hair overlapping to help it grip on itself. And like all curling irons, if you pin the curls and let them set, the curl will be fuller and last longer when released from the pin. Below you can see a picture of my hair pinned and the next morning. That day, I received so many compliments at work, as my hair was super bouncy.

I had doubts at first, but after discovering my "trick" for the 32mm curling iron, I absolutely love it just as much as my 19mm. Both irons give me such pretty curls, but unique to the barrel size. I will be posting some videos later this month to give you a demonstration of my new curling iron, along with the curl sizes between the 32mm and 19mm. I know there's so many curling iron brands out there, but I'm so glad I discovered the José Eber Pro Series, as my hair responds so well to them, giving my curls a flawless look and not drying out my hair. Not only do the irons heat up super fast but they also have a 360 swivel cord, so the cord doesn't get in the way and tangled up or kinked up while rolling your hair.

I will warn you though, these irons get very hot (410 F°) and a split second on your skin, will burn you. I have burnt my myself several times over the past few years.  Because of that, I was so excited to see another heat resistant glove, as now I can have one for each hand. This is especially good, when pinning curls, so I can hold it right out of the heat and pin it without getting my fingers toasty. The gloves are not completely heat resistant as you can still feel the warmth of the heat, but it cuts out the majority of the hotness. Both irons are very light in weight, though the 32mm is heavier than the 19mm, but I suppose it would be strange if it wasn't. And last but not least the irons are dual voltage 100V - 240V (universal voltage) and have a lifetime warranty!! Yes, you read that right, a lifetime warranty! You will have to cover the shipping and handling costs, but they will replace your styling tool if it starts acting up, for instance not heating up or other malfunctions.

There's not much I would change about the José Eber curling irons.  I do have two suggestions, that aren't huge concerns, but I thought I'd just mention them. First the body/handle of the irons are weighted for a "safe resting position". I understand the concept, but I can count on several occasions that it rolled when I put it down and the possibility of it falling in my lap flashed in front of me. So maybe a little flip-down resting pin on the back of the handle would prevent that from happening, without interfering with the design of the iron itself. The other thing I wish it had was a retractable cord keeper like hair dryers sometimes have, maybe an external one that is attached to the cord. Not sure if that even exists, but that nit picky request just stems from me always running late.

For more information on José Eber Styling tools, as they also carry a variety of other products, such as hair straighteners, blow dryers and accessories, check out there website or follow them on facebook, pinterest and twitter. The "Infrared Blow Dryer" is on my "to-buy" list, as it looks super high tech and honestly just looks like it would be an amazing blow dryer. I'll be posting a video featuring the 32mm curling iron next week and possibly a giveaway in the near future too?!? Which José Eber styling tool would you like to win?

  1. Your hair looks gorgeous. I have issues with curling my hair too. It would not last but once I started using the clipless irons... I noticed it would last w/o any hair spray. Freaking love it. This size is perfect for voluminous wave. :)

    1. Thanks Julie! I even think it would be great for short hair, like Kimber's hair in Nip/Tuck...but I'm too chicken to ever cut all my hair off!! :P

    1. I've actually never tried the InStyler....I too see the commercials all the time. Now you have me curious which one is better. But off the top of my head I'd have to guess the José Eber would still be my favorite.
