Usually I don't have high expectations for hair treatments as my hair is dry and I have so many split ends that it would be impossible for anything to help them, except to cut them off. My hair is naturally a very dark brown so as you know it's blonde meaning I go every 4 - 6 weeks to get highlights making it even more brittle. In my August Birchbox I received two samples from Miss Jessie's which are both hair treatments.

I have never tried any of their products but I love testing out hair products, so I was pretty excited to see if it made any difference in my hair. I first read the directions, which I'm still unsure if I did it right. The directions state: "Once weekly, scoop out a gold ball sized dollop in your hand. Smooth onto damp curls section from the root downward. Leave in for 30 minutes then rinse. Proceed to styling. Super Sweetback Treatments's growing properties are amplified when used during a steam treatment or under an overhead dryer on a heated setting. To steam, apply Super Sweetback Treatment before your shower and allow the steam from the shower to penetrate each strand. After 15 minutes, rinse style with one of Miss Jessie's styling products! Enjoy!" Does this mean you apply it to dry or wet hair?

I applied it to my hair when it was wet after I shampooed and rinsed out my regular conditioner then rubbed in the treatment and sat in my steamy bath for 15 minutes. As soon as your eyes see the thick, pink cream your nose will get a whiff of the strong scent. I don't have the best sniffer by any means so if I can smell a scent strongly then the product has a very strong scent. Needless to say, this treatment has a very strong scent mixture of cotton candy and bubblegum. It's so sweet that it almost sickening unless your goal is to smell like a candy factory. Even the next day I could still smell the sweet scent strongly in my hair.

Being such a thick cream I really thought I might be able to see some kind of difference in my hair. I sure did, upon rinsing it out, my hair was not nearly as soft and it felt kind of strangely dry. From previous experiences most treatments make your hair feel super smooth when rinsing it out but this one was nothing like that. I styled it as usual, not noticing any difference in blow dry time, which means it didn't add any weight to my hair (plus +1). For the 8oz size of this treatment it will cost you $26.00 which for me I wasn't that impressed to go out and purchase it.  Also according to their website this treatment is best for kinky or tight curly hair, instead of wavy hair like mine, so maybe that's why I didn't get the best results or I just completely failed at the directions. The other treatment I received is the Rapid Recovery Treatment which I will do a separate post on, but it is for all hair types.  Have you tried any products from Miss Jessie's?  Which hair products are your favorites?
