Beauty Subscription Boxes

Beauty Subscription Boxes

Billing & Shipping Times Timeline

Back on May 13th, I decided to sign up for several beauty boxes to see which one I liked the best. I signed up for all five on the same day within one hour of each other and decided I would document the process for you. The five I decided on were:

01. Ipsy - $10.00 / month
02. Beauty Army - $12.00 / month
03. Beauty Box 5 - $12.00 / month
04. Birchbox - $10.00 / month
05. Beauty Bar : Sample Society - $15.00 / month

Upon initially signing up, I was immediately charged for the monthly box by Ispy, Beauty Army and Birchbox on May 13th. Beauty Box 5 charged my card the following day and Sample Society processed the charge when the box shipped. Later that evening I received an email from Beauty Army stating that my box had been send but did not include a tracking number.

May 15th: Received an email from Beauty Box 5 stating my box had shipped including a tracking number.

May 21st: Received an email from Birchbox and Ipsy stating my box had been shipped, both with tracking numbers.

May 22nd: Received Birchbox May box.

May 23rd: Received Beauty Box 5 May box.

May 25th: Received Ipsy May box.

May 28th: Sent Beauty Army an inquiry about the shipment of my box. The next day I received an email back telling me it is on it's way without a tracking number.

June 1st: Credit card charged by Birchbox and Ipsy.

June 3rd: Received Beauty Army May box.

June 4th: Credit card charged by Sample Society. Received tracking number for Birchbox.

June 5th: Received tracking number for Sample Society.

June 10th: Received Sample Society June box.

June 12th: Received Birchbox June box.

June 14th: Credit card charged by Beauty Box 5 and received tracking number.

June 15th: Received Ipsy June box.

June 16th: Opted out for Beauty Army June box.

July 2nd: Received Beauty Box 5 June box.

I just wanted to do a timeline of the billing and shipment times. As of now, September I've dropped two of them and stuck with Birchbox, Beauty Box 5 and Beauty Army. Though I have opted out for the past two months with Beauty Army. Each box is unique in the products they send out but I found I personally like these three the best. Thanks for reading!

Beauty Army is great for the fact that you can opt out if none of the products interest you that month. The sample that instantly sold me on the first box was the Egyptian Magic Body Lotion. I received a few other items that I really enjoyed testing out including the Lash Card and Yes To Cucumber Soothing Facial Towelettes. Birchbox is more of a main stream box that sends both known and not so known brands, along with their own name brand products. They offer points for signing up along with purchasing full size items via their website. Some month's are better than others but for the most part I have really liked the products I have received. In fact a few of them have gone on my wish list and I did purchase a full size of the Supergoop CC cream using some of my points, which in turn got me a $10.00 discount. They also offer the Birchbox Man which I purchased for a friend of mine to try out. He absolutely LOVES it! And it's funny cause he tells me that receiving fragrance samples is his favorite, as with the ladies I hear that is their biggest complaint. Beauty Box 5 has more not so known companies which I absolutely love because then I can test and talk about products that not maybe everybody has heard of yet. I've talked to a few bloggers that didn't like this subscription service but personally I love new and not so known companies. As a blogger it's easier to get in touch with these companies too. Some of the bigger brands I have found are snobby and won't even acknowledge reviews or mentions but smaller companies, especially new companies are excited for people to spread the word about their product. Sample Society is luxury brand samples. I found the majority of their samples were skincare products, though I did receive a shampoo sample, some lip gloss and a bottle of nail polish. I'm not a skincare tester and I've made that very clear in my writings over the life of this blog due to having an allergic reaction to noxzema in eighth grade. That one experience scarred me for life on experimenting with skincare products. I also concluded that many of their products had a hefty price tag for the full size which is completely out of my budget, along with it being the priciest subscription box out of the five.

I will also note they tweeted me and asked me my feedback on my first box, which I truly appreciated. I did receive in my July box a broken product that had leaked completely out but again it was a skincare product (Face Tonic) so I didn't even bother reaching out to them for a replacement. Though now I wish I had so I could write it up in this review for further information. A coupon was included each month for $15.00 off a $50.00 purchase from www.beautybar.com for full size products. Last but not least is Ipsy. I actually really liked the products in this subscription service as they were very main stream products with a few oddballs thrown in. For instance, Big Sexy Hair, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Yaby, NYX Cosmetics, Zola are just a few of the brands I received samples from. I probably would have continued with this service except for the fact that they would send an email out before I would even receive the box with a picture of all the products. It totally spoiled the element of surprise for me. I don't understand why they can't correlate the shipping and delivery with the email. I did love that they offer a special discount with each company's that they send you a sample of for that particular month. Check out my Ipsy un-opening videos: http://blog.alelizabeth.com/tag/ipsy

If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Let me know what your favorite beauty box subscription service is. I hope to do a review for the next level beauty boxes that are $30 - $50 a month but I need to save some money before I can do that review.
