Recently I was offered an opportunity to try out Younique's Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes, courtesy of Debi Jackson (Younique by Debi). I had actually never heard of Younique so I was excited to try a new product, especially since it is similar to another product I reviewed last September called Magnifibres. Though both products are great, I like Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes better as the fibers are black instead of white...meaning there isn't a chance of white fuzz on your lashes if you miss a spot with your mascara. The Moodstruck fibers are also 100% natural and taken from the campanulaceae of green tea.
My initial reaction when I received the package was how well designed and sturdy the packaging is. The Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes come in a container similar to a sunglasses case that flips open with two tubes inside, one of transplanting gel and one of green tea fibers. Inside the case there are two elastic bands to hold the tubes in place.
The transplanting gel is the larger tube and the gel is very thick but helps the fibers attach easier and faster than regular mascara. You can even use your favorite mascara first, followed by the transplanting gel then apply the fibers to give even more of a dramatic look. In addition you can always apply several layers of gel and fibers to achieve the perfect volume for your liking as well. For "au naturale" days the transplant gel works great alone as a mascara.
I noticed the fibers helped in volume but more in length as my lashes grew a bit more with each layer I applied. It's also a good idea to finish with the gel to help seal in any loose fibers. Debi told me, "...the trick is more gel, less fibers...more gel is better, that is what holds the fibers in place."
The fibers stay all day and are water resistant (not waterproof) but come off easily with make-up remover or cleanser. If you are concerned about them being waterproof you can always use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lash Genius to create a waterproof barrier. The Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes are available on the website for $29.00, which with regular daily use should last you anywhere from two to three months. To get your own Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes head on over to Debi's website and tell her I said hello!
