Super Curls Overnight
Recently I visited the Perimeter Mall kiosk where I purchased one of my favorite curling irons, the Jose Eber 19mm. The salesman at the kiosk said, "They now offered a new brand line called "Sutra", which is made by the same manufacture as Jose Eber." I have yet to find any hard evidence of that and honestly the fast talkers at the kiosk I think will tell you anything so they can make a commission. The guy told me that the Sutra heats up to 400 degrees, while on their website it says it heats up to 450 degrees. I know for a fact that this curling iron is not nearly as hot as my Jose Eber, which is 410 degrees because when using the Jose Eber, the heat still burns my fingers through the glove, which does not happen at all with the Sutra.
I was very excited to try the new brand as I have heard all kinds of buzz about the "Sultra" Curling irons, so when I arrived home and realized my box was missing the oh so important letter "L" I felt like a complete fool. Being a beauty blogger I figured I would give the wanna-be Sultra a whirl to see how it stood up to the Jose Eber. The first thing I noticed is that it took much longer to curl and I had to do much smaller sections to achieve the same curl definition, but after accomplishing that goal I went about my day as normal. By the end of the day most of the curls had already fallen out, leaving my hair wavy and by day two there was no curl definition left. Assuming maybe it was humid that day, I tried again several days later with the same results and have tried numerous times since with always the same result. Very disappointed, I was determined to find some use for this curling iron, which I demonstrate in the video below. Though it takes much longer to set, by pinning the curls this method will keep the curls basically until you wash your hair again.
I honestly don't know if I got a defective iron or if the Sutra is just sub par. It has great reviews on their website, but I can tell you, based on my experience I will never purchase a Sutra product. For more information on Sutra check out their website or follow them on Twitter and Facebook. Have you tried any Sutra products? Did you have better luck than me?
