"The OC8® Acne formula dries blemishes while reducing the appearance of redness and facial shine
Benzoyl peroxide 7% is considered safe and effective by the FDA for the topical treatment of acne. As an active ingredient, it targets bacteria inside the pores, a known cause of acne pimples, while acting as a drying agent. Benzoyl peroxide also helps remove dead skin and cells to clear pore blockages, which can trap bacteria and cause redness, inflammation and swelling.
OC8® Acne Gel also contains Acrysorb®, the same ingredient used in OC8® Mattifying Gel. ACRYSORB® micro-particles have been clinically proven to reduce facial shine for up to 8 hours."

If you have been following my blog for a little bit, you probably know that I'm very lucky in the fact that I don't have many concerns with acne. (Knock on wood!) So when I was sent this product I was surprised, as I thought I was going to get the regular OC8® which I will be featuring tomorrow. I ended up giving the OC8® Acne Gel to my friend Dorothy, since she has battled with acne for the past few years. She is a few years older than me and never had problems with acne until later in life. Dorothy was officially elected my "acne" tester last year, since I am also allergic to products that contain benzoyl peroxide.
With that said, Dorothy was thrilled to try something new, as nothing has worked for her in the past. Dorothy has combination skin and suffers mainly with deep cystic acne but does also have the occasional surface pimple as well. The first thing she absolutely noticed and loved about the OC8® Adult Acne Treatment Gel is the scent. The scent is a beach-like fragrance and who doesn't love the beach?! The texture has a grainy, salty feel, but glides easily onto your face when applied. The OC8® label offers a regular Mattifying Gel without the 7% benzoyl peroxide that is found in the Acne Gel. As you most likely already know most acne products contain either, benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid or both and depending on your skin type and needs, you probably know which one works better for you.
Even though it didn't clear her cystic acne, it most definitely helped to dry the surface pimples to eliminate them faster. She said she loves using it on problem areas in the morning before she applies her makeup, but did not like applying to her whole face as it was a bit too drying for her normal skin. Dorothy was impressed with the mattifying properties of the OC8® Adult Acne Gel, as she did notice the problem areas weren't as shinny by the end of the day. I was sent another acne product last year that she tried for me and she quickly gave it back, as it completely dried her skin out too much, but I haven't received the OC8® back and I know I won't, as she has stated, she's claiming this product. :)
Tomorrow I will be featuring the OC8® Professional Mattifying Gel. I'd also like to mention the Material Safety Data Sheets are also linked on their website, which I believe makes a consumer more confident in a company and/or purchase, as you know exactly what is in their products. If you want more information on OC8® check out their website or follow them on Twitter or Facebook. This formula used to be by presecription only but it can now be purchased directly through their website and select online retailers.

I think I will give this a shot. I don't have bad acne but I do get a pimple here and there. Thanks for the review!
