Guest Blogger Post - Vanessa : DIY Lip Plumper

Pucker up baby!

Not everyone can be blessed with perfectly plumped lips like Angelina Jolie or Scarlett Johansson which is why lip venoms and plumpers have become such a huge seller. Though there are definitely brands out there that work, you'll be shelling out a pretty penny for it.

Whenever I find a pricey product I love, I immediately indulge my inner DIY diva by finding an amazing homemade alternative.

Prepare to blast your lips right out of the universe with this incredible lip plumper!

You'll need to pick up a few ingredients for this recipe. Thankfully all these items can easily be found in the pharmacy, health store and even your own kitchen cupboard.

- Aquaphor
- 3-4 drops Liquid Vitamin B6
- 3-4 drops Liquid Niacin
- a pinch of Cayenne Pepper or juice from a mashed JalapeƱo Pepper
- 5-6 drops of Cinnamon Oil or Peppermint Oil

Mix all these ingredients together until they form a uniform consistency. Use an old (but clean) lip balm pot or hit up your local dollar store and pick a few little containers up.

Be sure to spot test your homemade plumper before smothering it all over your lips. After all, it’s better to be safe than sorry, right?

Not a fan of the burning sensation that is bound to come with the Cayenne and Cinnamon? A fun - and tasty - trick is to add a drop of all natural honey. The natural properties in honey will soothe your burning lips and smell great.

If you’re craving colour I've got two great tips for adding some tint.

1. Take your fave mineral blush powder and add 1/4 teaspoon to your plumper. Blend in and apply!

2. If you prefer a more natural approach, hit the local market and pick up a pomegranate. Mash 15-20 seeds, pour the colored juice into your balm and stir, stir, stir!

You'll see from the tips of your fingers how great pomegranate is for dying stuff and the natural antioxidants don't hurt!

After giving you an all natural alternative to colouring your plump, it dawned on me that I should offer you something more organic than Aquaphor.

Since this ingredient is used as the gel-base, there are plenty of alternatives. My personal favorite is to melt a mixture of beeswax and coconut oil together then let stand in the fridge till it solidifies a bit. Once done, add in the other ingredients and carry on with the rest of the original directions.

Not only is beeswax and coconut oil natural, but they are great for moisturizing and hydrating your lips! Win-Win!

Don't you just love a DIY with options? Me too! Now test it out and enjoy the effects your new pash-worthy pout has on that boy you've been crushing on! Happy lip-locking!
